When we began this venture, we wanted to be intentional with every aspect of our business model. Gooddegg™ was born from a love of outdoors, nature, and environmentalism.
Co-Founders SR and JC met at college while attending Purdue University Fort Wayne. After twenty years, the two reunited to fulfill a dream they had discussed while on campus: to create a socially responsible business that gives back to the earth.
JC and SR have been life-long advocates for environmentalism. JC, a former Eagle Scout, is passionate about preservation. SR, a native to Bangladesh, has seen first-hand the destructive consequences of deforestation in his home county as Bangladesh is one of the most severely impacted environments. The two share a passion for sustainability. Sustainability in business, sustainability in the environment, friendship, communities, and even our products.
Working together, the two entrepreneurs developed a professional relationship with a local historical agricultural farm in Bangladesh to help forward environmental causes, and sustain those living in impoverished areas. The project came to be One Tree One Hope, JC and SR implemented a tree planting initiative that promised to plant a tree for every purchase made. While the efforts are being centralized currently in Bangladesh, the two have a shared vision of extending the efforts in other areas impacted by deforestation.
Because of this partnership, Gooddegg can plant a high-quality mango tree for every purchase made through the e-commerce site. The mission has and will continue to be the same: provide customers with unique home decor solutions while empowering them to be a part of their global reforestation project. By making a responsible investment in furniture that will last a lifetime, customers are also making an investment to help rebuild an endangered environment that will last far beyond a lifetime.
All Gooddegg customers genuinely are that, good eggs. Hence, the namesake of the company.
